In my bachelor's thesis project, I designed a series of objects for children (ages 8 - 12) that would stimulate open ended gameplay. The objects were based on the hen & egg metaphor and were designed to mimic the relationship between mother and young. The behaviours were implemented as an abstract design that the target group could understand and use as a basis for their game scenarios (and stories). This metaphor guided the target group into conflicting gameplay dynamics that was driven by either protective or aggressive behaviour towards the objects.
